Something's Missing

I was replacing our doorbell this afternoon and the drilling obviously disturbed this little guy, who was crawling up the wall next to where I worked. Problem is that the poor little fella has one of his legs missing and of all the ones to be doing without, it is one of the large rear legs that they use to spring around in the grass.

I believe that this is a cricket as opposed to a grasshopper.

Anyway, the doorbell is working well and hopefully has the range we need to reach the remote unit in the summer house so that we can hear when people are at the door. That is of course if they hang around long enough for me to get to the door. We had a delivery this morning and I was in the kitchen when the doorbell rang. I went to the door immediately but the courier had already given up waiting. I can’t imagine what older or disabled people are supposed to do to get to their doors fast enough to satisfy such impatience.
