Pedalling into Sunday!
I am most astounded at how popular my Golden Reflection Blip of yesterday was - it is currently at the very top of the Spotlights! Thank You! to everyone!
I just had to go out again tonight - and with the same lens (Sigma EX 20mm f1.8), as I was returning home over Fisherton Bridge and the local Wetherspoons ablaze, I suddenly grabbed this surprise old fashioned bicycle with a basket on the front whizzing by! At this time of night, it's usually a skulkily hooded figure on a BMX rattling along, though I notice no lights on this lady's mode of transport....
I had the camera on lo-drive and so had several shots as she whizzed by; this was the first one.
The lighting was again a pleasant yellowy-golden colour but felt that it should be in black and white this time. In the conversion though, the top light sources required a much gentler contrast and treatment, as they would simply burn out otherwise. The foreground though received a harsher contrast, to lead the eye in better and to show the bike more clearly.
The pinpoint of light in the top right corner is the red light atop the Cathedral. Far too late for the floodlighting to be still on and the exposure too short for the Spire to show up.
Have a great Sunday, everybody - we have our annual Fun Fair from Monday onwards and it always provides a good photographic opportunity.
I DO feel a little guilty about not participating in the Blip ten year red balloon celebrations though - it's too late now - never mind, eh?
