Coffee and Cavemen
It was the first ParkRun I’d done in ages this morning. I decided to go to the one at Platt Fields as I needed to go to Unicorn Veggie Supermarket afterwards too.
October is the month of no focus and I’ve not done any fast running as a result. I turned up to see Stu from the Tri club frantically looking for Lex, Paul etc.... He needn’t have worried as the lads were wearing dresses! Rob B was dressed as a caveman......although as a small, lean and fast triathlete he didn’t look too threatening. I didn’t realise it was Lex’s stag-do run....hence the outfits.
I set off feeling alright for the first 2km with my legs feeling strong. Rachel from the club was directly behind me but pulled away slowly beyond the ½ way point! I realised I was a tad above PB pace but the fatigue kicked in and I started to slow a bit.....”relax laddie” I said to myself pushing all the way to the finishing line. About 8 people passed me in the final km, suggesting I’d set off too fast! Hmmm, average time but not to worry.
After a quick chat, I pedalled to Chorlton to do my messages (a Scottish colloquialism for shopping) and raced back to the train station, missing the damn thing by 20 seconds! Luckily, I had a magazine so read that for a bit. On getting home, I had my lunch, an afternoon nap, two espressos and then ran into Glossop for more shopping.
That was the day that was!
