Low tide

This image does not portray the cold northeasterly wind, which comes straight at you in the picture. It is taken at the Braighe, the isthmus linking mainland Lewis to Point. The villages in that district can be made out on the horizon.

At times of high winds, the road leading across the Braighe can become impassable due to spray and shingle covering the roadway. At such a time, the Rudhachs (the people of Point) say that Lewis has become cut off from Point.
