A very windy day

The effects of Hurricane Gonzalo could certainly be seen today, we are experiencing very strong winds and the leaves are blowing everywhere, making the garden a right old mess. I went up to the woods with Murdoch and my camera and tripod, knowing that the water on the pond would be very rippled due to the wind, so I had fun taking some long exposure shots. After carrying my tripod all that way I had to post a long exposure shot today, although I also like this one taken at normal exposures. You can see the movement in the trees as the wind blows very clearly in this image.

So, Oscar Pistorius got a sentence of five years in jail, which is pitiful considering the crime - her family have a life sentence of grief. He will probably be out on a suspended sentence in time for the 2016 Olympic Games, knowing how that judicial system works.

On a more positive note, isn't it wonderful to hear about the paralysed man who became the first in the world to walk again following a pioneering therapy which involved transplanting cells from his nose into his severed spinal cord. What a remarkable world we live in!
