Today's the day ....................... to paddle

The high winds and stormy weather forecast for today as a result of Hurricane Gonzalo was not as bad as it was feared - at least not in this part of the country.

Nevertheless, the River Kent was full of fast-flowing water as I walked along the riverbank. There were quite a few goosanders to be seen and this one had to paddle quite hard just to remain in the same place so that I could take a photograph of her ........................
