Cooking, cooking, cooking
Another day, another dish or two. I found a cookbook from Red Nose Day in 1999 from which I'd cooked the Tuscan Bean Soup many times in the past but not for a few years now. So we had Tuscan Bean Soup on Saturday and the Fragrant Pork today. In the absence of lemon grass I used a few shreds of lemon zest. Seemed to work out OK.
The other dish is a pork chilli in the slow cooker ready for our friends on Thursday. I find these slow cooker recipes very good and easy and very satisfying.
The pumpkin is from the allotment and has already been used to make a slow cook pumpkinand chickpea curry. The rest wil be used in a pumpkin cake (like a carrot or courgette cake) and a pumpkin and chorizo soup.
Bought picking onions from the farm shop the other side of town, time to pickle next year's supply of pickled onions. The recipe I use comes from a WI book on pickles and preserves and uses cider vinigar and has a sliver of chilli and sprig of tarragon in the jar.
