Donkey ride

In the town of Thira, local donkeys (though I think most of them are mules or ponies) carry people to and from the old port below. The island is visited by cruise ships on most days, so they need to get from the old port up to the town to have a look round. There are donkeys, a cable car or you can walk the stepped pathway down (or up!). It is a lovely port and the location for boat trips out to the volcano. I never thought I would be so fascinated by boats, but there were so many coming and going.
