Auditorio

Most of the hard court volleyball in Zihuatanejo takes place at the Deportiva Unidad, a place we spend at least two nights a week. On my morning rides, however, I normally swing by the Auditorio, an old Quonset Hut-type gymnasium, in the off chance there is something going on. If there is, it is usually basketball, but this morning there was volleyball happening. I chatted with one of the referees that I know and discovered it is a technical school tournament hosting teams from all over Mexico. Lots of games to watch over the next three days, but the real star as far as I am concerned is the facility. Such great lines on the ceiling and the bright windows at the far end of the court fairly glow with sunlight. This photo makes things look much brighter than they really are inside the Auditorio. In reality, it is quite dark but at least the ball is not blown around, nor are games called because it is raining too hard, like can happen at the Unidad.
