Drinks & A View
My wife decided it had been some time since we had partaken of drinks at the Sunset Bar of the Catalina Beach Hotel. This grand old hotel was the first ever on Playa La Ropa, built in the early 1950s, so the bar has a stunning view of the beach. That view requires climbing a large number of stairs, but the payoff is worth it (see photo). Tonight, however, when we reached the terrace all hot and sweaty from the climb the chairs were stacked and the place closed. Walking back from where we had come a hotel employee asked if we had everything we needed. When we told him we were there for drinks at their closed bar, he said no problem and would find someone to open things up for us. They never opened the bar, but Salvador did serve us 2x1 happy hour margaritas on our private deck. Such Mexican hospitality.
