Gymnast

5years 3days (still can't write that without first writing 4years!)

I took this picture of Katie sporting her new gymnastics leotard for the first time today, because it was the first time. I was extra glad to have taken it by the end of class. Because today, only 3days into the required 5years of age for eligibility, she had testing for her first big girl gymnastics badge. She almost totally rocked it. She looked so poised and strong. Her teacher said that on every single other element she had done the best in her group. Apart from one that she seemed she couldn't crack today, despite everyone knowing she is perfectly capable of it. She had a bit of a break and they'd been allowed to play with the gymnastic ribbons. There were training sized ones and a couple of full size ones. Katie took one of the big ones for the first time and did a fantastic job circling it as she skipped round the room. She also thought it hilarious to skip it around her coach, who thankfully agreed. She went back and tried the final element again on her own. And passed that particular element at a technique two grades up! Her coach showed her how brilliantly she had done and showed her the sheet that proved it. Combined with a bonus sticker and a really big cuddle, they sorted it out and Katie left a happy girl!

She didn't say a great deal about school today- apart from "I looked after my friend Tilly today because she didn't like the second half of the movie we watched with all the children in the big hall where we have assembly". She was just glad that it is in fact the holiday today! Hooray!!! 9days mama and Katie!
