Battered and Torn

After photographing origami butterflies yesterday I thought I'd hunt out real ones today.

This is the most battered Monarch butterfly I have ever seen. He is so faded that at first I wasn't even sure that he was a monarch. While I was stalking him I was trying to work out what sort of butterfly he was.

Have a look at the inside of that left wing in close up. It's a wonder he could fly at all with it almost torn off, but it wasn't stopping him from chasing the ladies.

THIS is what a 'normal' monarch looks like.

That must have been a heck of a storm/accident he got caught in.

Today hurts (maybe as much as that butterfly does). On this day last year we cremated my Blaze.

It was too soon and I want him back.
