Prost!

Greetings from Berlin!
It was a pretty hassle free journey, though the S-Bahn from the airport didn't follow the underground map route and we had a quick jump off and re-plan to get to our hotel. I'm putting that down to all the building work that's still going on. First impressions though: graffiti, construction, a real mix of old and modern.

We're staying way out in the South-west and, despite best intentions, won't be heading back into the centre tonight. The nearest restaurant to the hotel is on its final day of 'Bavarian Week' so we've eaten there and are now ensconced in a corner with a couple of beers. I think that'll be us for the rest of the evening! I quite like Maisel's, have had the odd bottle in The Pond.

Schalke are losing to Bayer Leverkusen 1:0 by the way. I missed the goal but the bar staff were waxing lyrical (I think! Haven't really tuned in yet.). It all just got a bit towsy, yellow and red cards being waved about merrily by the man in schwarz!
