St. John's Co Cathedral

The four of us took a public bus across the island to visit Valletta today. An ancient fortified town, not very extensive, and with very few people actually living in the city, apparently. Lots to see - spoiled for blips - but the contrast between the very plain exterior and the hugely elaborate interior of St John's Co Cathedral has the edge. A legacy of the knights of Malta, with lavish decorations and embellishments, including the painting by Carravagio of 'the head of John the Baptist' this is certainly an unique building and well worth the visit.
