Hortobágy Fishponds

Another jam-packed day, the highlight of which was watching tens of thousands of common crane (and also lots of geese and plenty of other species) gather here on the fishponds. The cranes come to roost here at night for several weeks on their way down South. I decided that trying to take photos was fruitless as the light faded so fast once they started to arrive, so we just enjoyed watching and listening from a tall observation hide. Very memorable sound!
