Exploring
We did a lot of exploring today. More than we intended really. It started very early this morning.
I don't mind when the clocks change as the children gradually adapt. However when we booked this holiday a long long time ago we didn't take into account day light saving or the hour difference of a new country or the excitement for a little boy to be sharing a room with his sister again. At 3.30am Dexter crawled into our bed for his morning cuddle ready to start the day! We eventually managed to persuade him to go back to his bed but by 5.30am he wanted his breakfast. So we were all up and out early which turned out to be a good call as we seemed to beat the crowds wherever we went.
Highlights
Stumbling across A Brasileira described as the city's most famous cafe. The deco is very Art Nouveau dating back to the 1920s. Myself and Olivia shared a teapot of hot chocolate which was delicious!
Climbing the tight narrow spiral staircase of Elevador de Santa Justa for the views of the city (above blip).
Chasing pigeons in Rossio square.
Catching the rickety old yellow tram up the hill to Castelo de Sao Jorge and then exploring the castle.
Racing home on a tuk tuk through the city.
An afternoon sleep :)
The view point at Sao Pedro de Alcantara.
A Portuguese meal at Cervejara do Trinidade which used to be an old monastery and was recommended to us by a friend who used to live here.
