Villa Borghese

Today we were not on such a frantic schedule and made time to just wander hither and yon. This meandering took us to the Spanish Steps again and from there we made our way to the Piazza del Popolo.

Fun and retail therapy ensued on the way to the Piazza as I has sussed out two lovely stationery shops en route - Vertecchi Art and then the (apparently) famous Fabriano. The reason Fabriano is famous is because they make the paper that euro banknotes are printed on! In days gone by they also sold drawing paper to Raphael - and I don't mean the ninja turtle.

Our destination was the Villa Borgese, a lovely park with one of the top art galleries in Rome. Unfortunately it is so popular we weren't able to get tickets for any day this week! So if you are coming to Rome you definitely need to book that one ahead. The photo was taken by the lake in the park, where there is also a very nice coffee pavilion.

I'm blipping this in the afternoon instead of the end of the day (my usual) as we have returned to the hotel for a cheap lunch! At least we can splash out on dinner......
