Wound up in Wexford

Log splitting

I spent a couple of hours splitting logs like this earlier, but left a few of the larger ones for Walter.

The log splitter is another of Walter's toys - he bought it before we met, but had never had it out of the box until today. Ideally, it should be set into a rather chunkier piece of base wood than the one we are using.

Using it is undoubtedly easier than an axe, but still quite good exercise.

Walter tried to use a saw on the larger pieces that were difficult to split, but in fact we don't have a saw that is man enough for the job - I can see a chain saw might be the next "toy".

In the meanwhile, the logs as delivered, whilst rather large, probably will still fit in our wood burner, so maybe we just leave them "chunky"?
