Golden Plovers against the Moon
I left the house this morning to head out to Deerness but the rain was heavy and I decided to postpone the walk until the afternoon, when it might be nicer. It was a good decision because the afternoon was sunny, dry and warm. I checked the Lighthouse Quarry ...its colours were black, gold, red and green. That is to say- a blackcap, a goldcrest, two redwings and a greenfinch. The blackcap was a male and gave me the best views of one this year. I walked along to the Barns of Ayre, then the Point of Ayre and back along the shore of Newark Bay as the sun set rapidly. As I walked up to the road to get the bus, golden plovers were flying against the moon.
