Wild waves at Deerness
I went out to Deerness looking for migrant birds. I'd read that thousands of fieldfare had passed through Fair Isle so was looking for those and perhaps rarer thrushes. I did see some fieldfare but only about ten and some redwings and lots of blackbirds. There were probably lots more about but the wind was getting up all the time and the rain came on so birds were really trying to keep a low profile. I did see about 100 pink-footed geese, 200 golden plover and a woodcock. After taking some shots of the waves I headed for home.
