Farewell to Madeira

I took this as we were in departures at Funchal this morning, waiting to fly out and looking out over the sea.

These are the Ilhas Desertas - uninhabited islands (as you may have inferred from the name!) which are home to colonies of birds. Apparently it is possible to visit them - something to bear in mind if we make another trip to Madeira.

We had a long stopover in Lisbon, so took the metro into the city, and found a nice park to wander in and a café beside a duckpond. Home now and I'm going off to bed. I'll try to catch up on comments tomorrow.
