More than Just a Theory

This is my music theory book. To the average eye, this book may seem bland and written in a foreign language. To me however, this book is worth more than gold. Music is my life. This is no secret throughout the community. This music theory book is what will secure my acceptance to any music school or conservatory of my choice. When you apply to a college with intentions of majoring in music, a series of auditions and tests must be taken. These tests focus on music theory as well as written knowledge of music. My music theory book is a collegiate level introductory to music theory. It will teach me everything I need to know about the technical aspects of music. With it, I can achieve scholarship-worthy scores on the college acceptance tests. Call it crazy if you will, but this book is like my child. It goes EVERYWHERE with me. Whether I am on a road trip, in class, or at home, my theory book is never more than an arm’s length away. In my spare time when I’m not rehearsing or song writing, I work in my theory book. My teacher assigns me one chapter a week and all of its exercises. Each chapter of this book covers 7 key concepts of music, each skill building upon the last. Any given chapter has 15 reading pages, and 10 sets of comprehensive exercises. My theory workbook isn’t work to me at all. You may think it’s bizarre, but working in my theory book relieves my stress. It takes my mind to its favorite topic and often makes my day. I am excited to see what new musical heights this music theory book can take me to.
