When in Rome....

Didn't go to bed last night. Woke kids at 1.40am. Ben started playing 'Airplane' theme tune on his phone! We drove to Dad's and sleepily set off to Birmingham airport and then flew to Rome.

Arrived in a sunshine. The eight of us checked into our hotel and then set about the sights! Started at the Spanish Steps. Then columns, statues, fountains and wonder met us around every corner. I am overwhelmed, amazed (and as I am from Yorkshire) completely gob smacked by Rome! The Trevi Fountain is covered in scaffolding, but there are glimpses of gorgeousness. Horse drawn carriages, street artists, architectural delights and every flavour of ice cream. The Pantheon, The Colosseum in the distance and the huge and totally stunning white monument to Victor Emmanuel II. Rome - a photographer's dream location.

A delicious pasta meal ends the day. I sleep like a log.
