it was a dark and stormy night..

...and under the tutelage of D and her '10 minute sketches' class we learned that with ultramarine blue and burnt umber a dark an stormy sky is there for the painting.

I've always liked the idea of being able to illustrate a journal with a little sketch that captures the essence of that moment. Hopefully with a LOT of practice and D's gentle encouragement it may happen and with such a small amount of gear to have to schlepp around! That is always a bonus.
