Old Blue Eyes

Pipersdad spotted this Dragonfly in the yard this morning. I never would have seen him. Our weather has been unusually warm but I was still surprised to see a Dragonfly this late in the Fall. The forecast is for light snow tonight. I hope he has a warm place to hide!

Correction: Thank you to dbifulco who suggested that this is probably a Spreadwing Damselfly. I looked online and found a matching photo! He is a Spotted Spreadwing Damselfly - Lestes Congener. The one in the photo I found is a male and looks exactly like this one. Not sure how they could tell. :-)
