A Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger vessel. This Dutch based ship is part of the team dredging the river further up near Seaforth as a prelude to the construction of Liverpool 2 - a deep water container terminal due to open sometime in 2015. This will allow even bigger ships to use the Mersey than it can accommodate at present.

I like the fact that a number of commercial vessels use the CLT in winter - they're a reminder of the industry taking place on and around the river.
