National Honor Society!
This is a photo of one of my best friends, Katie, and I and the National Honor Society Induction Ceremony. We were inducted last year, so this year we just watched the new inductees become inducted. The ceremony was really nice. There are four characteristics of a person in National Honor Society and they are scholarship, leadership, character and service. The vice president, secretary, community liaison, and treasurer each spoke about one of these topics. After they spoke, they lit a candle. The next part of the ceremony is about the new inductees. There were fourteen new inductees this year, two seniors and twelve juniors, and each of them had to write a small speech about someone who has influenced them in their lives, excluding their parents. I remember being really nervous last year when I had to do this. After they speak, the principal came to the stage to give some closing remarks. The ceremony doesn’t last long, but it is a very special thing to be a part of. Throughout the year the National Honor Society does a lot of projects. We do trick or treat for a cause where we go from house to house and collect canned items for a food drive, we set up a senior versus teacher volleyball game where we give the money that was raised to a charity, we have a blood drive at the school for teachers and students, we help with special Olympics, and we help with the elementary school field day. There are so many neat things that the National Honor Society does, and I am happy to be a part of it.
