Philip

What a long day!

A full day at work, followed by a Swiss Air flight to LCY. I am more impressed with Easyjet at the moment though - Swiss put my hand luggage in the hold, LCY passport control was inefficient and I missed my planned train! I decided to take a taxi which turned out to be a good plan as that 'too good to be true' deal on a London hotel turned out to be just that - fine inside but in a very dubious location! I wasn't worried too much until the taxi driver told me not to wander out of the hotel on my own!!!! It was most certainly one of those times when I wished Philip had been there so we could have had a laugh about deals being just too good to be true!

Therefore (and because the hotel did not serve any alcoholic beverages), I decided to fulfil two needs and I took a taxi to the Tower of London to see the poppies. Philip had watched the early progress of this whilst he was ill and so wanted to go and see them. He was incredibly patriotic and last year he went to the 11.11 service here in Crozet to pay his respects. They were indeed spectacular and I was so glad that it was very quiet with few people (it was 9pm!).The way the Tower was lit added enormously to the effect of flowing blood. I also found a bistro for supper and a much needed glass of vino!
