Inula
Surprisingly, this Inula seedling has started to flower in this first week of November. The original plant flowered months ago in the hot border, has been cut back and more or less resting for the winter. Meanwhile, in another part of the garden, this self-sown seedling is providing crisp new foliage for the slugs and has just come into flower.
No gardening for me today. Friends are coming to lunch tomorrow so I have been shopping and prepping for most of the day. The menu is Leek and potato soup, glazed gammon with dauphinoise potatoes, parsnips with lemon and ginger and red cabbage. Dessert will be tarte au citron. Oh and some home made rosemary focaccia to go with the soup. Comfort food but lots of peeling and chopping!
