Top Of The World
After failing to get to the top of Teide on Monday, our travel rep confirmed that the cable car was open today so Pete and I headed off after we had visited the local market.
As we started to climb, the clouds came down and the fog rolled in and our hearts sank. It takes an hour to get to the top and it was quite a depressing drive as we thought we wouldn't see anything from the top. But then, suddenly, we broke through the cloud and into sunshine and we could see the top of Teide was cloud free. I cannot express the relief I felt as I didn't really enjoy the ride round those roads for a second time.
We struggled to park and then it took us 2 hours before we could get onto a cable car - the queues were horrendous but the wait was worth it. The views were stunning and we looked down onto the bank of cloud that we had driven through.
