I've moved the bird feeders around and can now see the woodpeckers without the clutter and provided they don't spot the camera I can snap away.

What a great lot of people you are. Sometimes just putting things down on paper helps the coping process, so thank you listening and for your lovely comments.

I had a good chat with my doctor this morning, who told me in no uncertain terms that everyone shrinks with age, it's just that I've got a head start. She also told me that having my bunions removed so I could go back into stilettoes wasn't going to happen. It was only an idea!
