The First Bonfire of Winter

Our merry band of Woodland Volunteers at Osborne House have spent the Summer clearing a large area of invasive trees to allow more light into the forest floor and room for the native trees, many planted by Prince Albert, to thrive again.

All the useful timber has been cut and stored in log piles leaving some large piles of material to be burnt on the Winter bonfires.

This is our first fire of the Winter season and as you can see once it is burning well there is much time for contemplation and banter around the campfire. As the weather gets colder there will be sausages and baked potatoes sizzling away ready for one of many tea breaks.

See in Large for the Head in the Smoke.
