The Pulpit

This is the highest point of Perry Wood, near Selling in Kent. The tower was first built in the 1800s and local lore has it that sermons were preached from it. It was also used as part of a chain of high points to relay semaphore messages from London to the Kent ports.

In the woods is one of my favourite pubs; the Rose and Crown. After a morning scampering round the woods looking for checkpoints (you can see one by the pulpit) the pub beckoned.
