An Act of Remembrance
Moving experiences in both our village churches.
Last night we had an hour of singing and poems complimented by a sketch and slides reminding us what war means in the Congregational church.
This morning we had an Act of Remembrance at the village war memorial. Each of the crosses bears the name of one of the fallen commemorated on the memorial. We followed this with a service in St Saviour's church. Again symbolism and original film from the First World War was used as an aid to reflection.
The display used on the 4th August created by our Parish Council was on show again after the service. Showing our village as it was in 1914 and telling us about the people whose names we recall each year.
We should always remember those who gave so much.
