Wartime meal
As a fundraiser for the Poppy appeal, today we had a wartime meal of corned beef hash and bread and butter pudding. Both were tasty but the host confided that some of the ingredients must have certainly come off the black market! I have been wearing my poppy and have been asked by several French friends to explain its significance. In France, the equivalent is the bleuet or cornflower but they are not sold and worn in the same way as the poppy in the UK.
