Up ridiculously early to get some work done before going to the music session, then on to a pub up the road where we met up with an ex-member of the Group who's over for a few days from Zurich. It was a bit of a mad rush after that to get back home, change, and then get in to town to the National Concert Hall for a performance by the Hallé Orchestra, visiting from Manchester.
It was a bit of a weird programme, with Joanna McGregor directing a severely pared-down orchestra in the first half in a rather heavy-handed performance of a Bach keyboard concerto. The full orchestra filled thge platform for the second half, which was devoted to Mahler's Fifth Symphony, conducted by principal conductor Mark Elder. It was a fine performance, and the orchestra were in terrific form.
Back home afterwards it was time to grab a quick bite to eat before uploading today's not-so-inspiring blip. Time for a bit more work now, then bed and up early for some more time at the morning grindstone.
