We will remember them...

I dragged myself away from the office today to attend our memorial service to fallen heroes. Our chaplain spoke eloquently and with feeling about those who lost their lives throughout two world wars and in conflict since then and, even though I'm lucky enough not to have lost a friend or relative in that way, I found it incredibly moving.

Afterwards we moved on to the Parkinson Building, where our war memorial is located. On huge slabs of marble are carved the names of our fallen colleagues. We were able this year, after research carried out by the university, to add another 25 names, each with their own history.

It certainly does make you think about what's important in life, and appreciate the brave men and women who risk their lives that we may live ours as we do.
