The Dam

Unimaginative shot of my legs in Schiphol airport earlier. Am in Amsterdam on business. Meeting up with a chap and his co-producer who is about to launch his TV show in the UK next year. Little ole me doing the PR (hopefully).

As much as trips abroad used to appeal (and sound exciting when you talk about them), I really didn't want to leave today. Every bit of my journey took me further away from Squidge, Angus and my lovely home and I felt really lonely. When you travel alone you don't speak to anyone all day really.

I slept the whole flight and only woke up when it landed. Then jumped on a train to the central station in Amsterdam. I have been before as a tourist but it looked so different today, I really saw the city's appeal.

Met up with the new client and we went to his neighbourhood De Pipj and to a little Japanese place for dinner - bumping into his girlfriend and their 2 and half year old daughter (immediate bonding!) who were out for Sint Maarten - which is apparently a Dutch festival - children take lanterns out onto the streets to celebrate the Saint and his help for the poor. The streets looked wonderful with all these brightly lit lanterns bobbing up and down at child height!! And it was great to meet the client's family.

Am back at the hotel now (thankfully as am not feeling very sociable today) and the most exciting discovery is BBC1 on the TV in my room which means I don't have to miss The Missing with the rather amazing James Nesbitt! Goedenacht!
