I had to drive over to Dad's old house to pick up some post and then straight over to the care home this morning. Dad was being assessed for the new care home at 10am and I needed to be there to make sure he was on his best behaviour.
I got a call a few days ago to say he had lost his wallet; that was the day he wanted me to get him a gun so he could die. Well he was in a very dejected mood when I arrived, so I set to work looking for his wallet. I search the floor, the drawers, the cupboards and his coats. Then I thought I should check all his clothes, and voilà, there it was! He had been wearing another pair of trousers, had hung them up with his wallet in the pocket and then in the morning had put on another pair. Well, finding his wallet really cheered him up. It really lifted his mood and he was so happy when he was being assessed. And as an even happier result; they want him to take a place in the residential unit and not the dementia unit. I think an angel was looking after me today and helping me get the best results today. Now all I need is for him to like the place when I take him to see it on Thursday!
