Ireland visits Malawi.....

Yesterday as I was coming into Lilongwe I was surprised to see Irish flags flying alongside the Malawi national flag! At the airport turn off there was this amazing poster of welcome for the Irish president!!

I was in Lilongwe for a meeting today but it wasn't with the President!!

I am always amazed at the amount of money spent on such things when people in surrounding villages have no running water or electricity! There was a comment in todays paper about the Irish President arriving on a commercial airline when our President needs a private jet (we are only the 6th poorest nation in the world)!!!

Am home safely in Mzuzu tonight and thankfully no mishaps on the way!
