Philae has landed!

WOO-HOO!!!!

Hang on, Philae! Space probe Philae has detached from the Rosetta 'mother ship' and has landed safely on comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko (or 67P to its friends). Philae's harpoons didn't fire, though, so everyone is hoping it hangs on tight.

Huge congratulations to Rosetta mission staff and all concerned at ESA.

The comet is meanwhile continuing on its orbit around the Sun, so hopefully we will get some amazing images and telemetry as Philae starts to send back information to Earth.

Such an exciting day for ESA and other space nerds :) WATCH THIS outer SPACE!
