We thought they'd never end.....

I remember the day I received this pack of three as though it were yesterday.

Difficult to forget because I received them in a plastic carrier bag with at least another 125 packets.

The family planning clinic in Dunfermline in 1988 were always keen to check your blood pressure and since mine has a tendency to jump when it's measured the lovely nurse decided I was to 'stop with the oral contraceptives immediately and start on these'.

That apparently would stop me having a stroke or a heart attack 'and would keep me going ' before my next appointment in three months.

She obviously thought I was some kind of nymphomaniac slut.
