Foyers Falls.

These Falls, which are 140 feet high are at the village of Foyers on the southern side of Loch Ness. foyers is famous for its Hydro Power and pumping system. In the eighties a huge chamber was bored through the ground from upper Foyers to Lower Foyers, down by the shore of Loch Ness. The Bore was taken to the loch at Gorthleck. The hydro electric is provided by letting the water from Gorthleck flow down to Loch Ness and at times when not so much electricity is required it is pumped back up from Loch Ness to the loch at Gorthleck This goes on every day of the year. It was a very expensive system and took a number of years to complete. It is then sent to the national grid and sold to England and Wales.
