Soaring over Omarama

Omarama is famous for angling,climbing and its spectacular gliding environment,created by the Southern Alps,"feisty thermals and extraordinary wave systems." It is acknowledged as the world's best mountain soaring site.
Omarama is a small village on the crossroads just north of the Lindis Pass and south of Twizel at the southern end of the Mackenzie Basin and a check point on the Alps to Oceans cycle trail. A beautiful place with clear skies and amazing light where nights are silent and skies are black except for the moon and starlight.
