Middle Earth

Today Dr D had a day off the farm fun and we packed a picnic and drove 30 kms from Omarama to the end of the gravel road up the breathtakingly majestic Ahuriri Valley alongside the braided Ahuriri River. Today has been beautifully sunny and whilst the temperature reached 19 deg celcius in Omarama,when we reached the end of the road up the valley , it registered 5.5 deg celcius…warm in the sunshine but somewhat bracing when the breeze began to stir! Paradise shelducks with their ducklings,skylarks and merino sheep the only (visible )creatures besides us!
