Fire Light
Not only a fire for warmth, but also light.
Arrived back home at 3pm.
Realised we had no electricity, which ment no heating ( although gas it need the electric to work the clock, pump etc.)
Fortunately weather not too cold, and at least we could see as it wasn't yet dark.
Checked to see if neibours was off too. No, only ours.
Rang British Gas ( as we have a service contract that covers electric as well as gas)
Got through straight away and spoke to a "person"!
Said someone would be with us within 3 hours.
Started looking for candles.
Poured a glass of wine! MrC went for fish and chips.
Man arrived at 5.30pm.
Checked our supply.
Problem in the main supply.
Said Northern Power would come out.
I said "Tommorow morning then."
He said " No. tonight!"
8.30pm 4 men arrived. Checked the supply and strated to dig up the road outside our hous, and dig up the garden.
11.00 pm I went to bed. MrC stayed up!
1.30am temporarily connected us to next doors supply (before it entered their house, so they don't have to pay for our electric)
Lights on, heating working, fridge/freezer back on ( not quite defrosted)
MrC came to bed!
Must say a big thank you to our neighbours F&C who provided hot drinks and said we could stay with them for the night.
Also neighbour S who let them connect to his supply.
And mainly to the Electricity men who worked in the dark to get us reconnected.
Very pleased we had the wood burner, which kept us warm.
They will be back to sort out the main problem. (in the morning maybe)
It is a corroded connection with the main supply ( they think)
We certainly had a cosy night in!
