Cooking up a storm
I had a good night's sleep (though I dreamt that B came back and we'd emptied her house so there was nothing left of her stuff, but she didn't seem to mind too much -weird stuff) and woke at 8.50am. Bliss. I read, listened to the radio, wrote a shopping list and got a shower and eventually arrived downstairs at gone 11.30am.
I dropped the wallpaper book back into Stony and returned a parcel of unwanted mail order clothes free of charge via Budgens, very handy. Then it was a massive Tesco shop as I've offered to do a whole load of freezer cooking for my sister to help her out in the first few months of new baby's life. After that I did another B&Q trip and picked up dozens of paint swatches for the bedroom and bathroom to play with. I loved mooching in there. My kind of fun.
I had a good chat with B and told her all about the row at work this week, my upcoming job interview and the decorating. Talking to her was really uplifting as per usual and I really hope I can see her and the family sometime over Christmas.
I put the England v S.Af rugby on the radio and spent three hours systematically chopping, dicing, frying, browning and tin opening whilst cooking chicken casserole, beef stew and meatballs in tomato sauce. It was a most efficient production line I must say and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm hoping I've made enough for at least 12 meals for two and maybe a few for my own freezer too.
Here it all is, cooling down before I get it into freezer bags. I feel very satisfied but it's the least I can do as their mad three months is about to begin. C said the pre labour stopped again this morning and as far as I know there's not likely to be a baby tonight. She's due tomorrow, so we'll see.
I'll be spending a quiet evening looking at more paint colours and catching up on some recorded telly. I've already had to climb up the scary attic ladder to switch the boiler on manually and I'm pleased to find that the heating and hot water have now come on. I'm going to leave them on and just turn the thermostat down this weekend so I don't have to keep going up there. Hopefully John the plumber will come back on Monday to replace the part that's caput.
Tomorrow, I need to redo my CV, empty the dining room in readiness for painting and get started on the mountain of ironing. I'm exhausted just thinking about it!
