Trekking to Bhaktapur

It couldn't have been more foggy this morning so we could barely see the trees outside our window, let alone a sunrise. Its a shame but we are in the mountains!

We start today's trek before 8am again and it soon begins to clear and warm up as we are mainly going downhill. Our destination today is Bhaktapur which we should get to by lunchtime and is where our short trek ends unfortunately. The scenery is stunning again and we walk through lovely pine forests and small villages. This photo is of our trekking party in front with some village women carrying heavy loads on their heads behind. This is how they all seem to carry loads here including some of the porters we've seen with other trekkers and they carry up to 25kg like this sometimes for days on end!

En route this morning we stopped for coffee at a small village cafe. Andy takes the gonks out who have been trekking with us. The young daughter of the family takes the blue one off the table, she then comes back and swaps it for the yellow one without a word to us. Before we know it she is walking up the road with her school bag on her back. We find out the gonk isn't in the kitchen so she must have it with her ... Andy follows in hot pursuit and manages to persuade the little minx to get the yellow gonk out of her bag and give it back ... luckily she didn't hop one one of the many school buses going past!

After visiting another UNESCO world heritage site, the Changu Narayan temple at our destination we have lunch then drive back to dusty Kathmandu. Its been a great few days and we're hoping to do a longer trek once we know what's happening with our Indian visas ... back to the Embassy tomorrow.
