Lovin' da Blues

We stayed in our room in San Diego until 11:59 this morning. that's right checkout was noon. Didn't want to leave. Peggy and I got alot accomplished and found time for great fun too. Peggy worked on a rough draft for USC and wrote three tests for CSUF and FC while I finished F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby", then read and re-read Arthur Millers' "Death of a Salesman" for a class I'm taking and started Steinbeck's "Tortilla Flat". Had great food and beverage and headed home.

We stopped on the was home at Java Joes to see a friend's blues band. In the middle of his second set, Peggy texted some friends to join us. They replied that they were at a Blues open mic jam a few miles away. We finished our lunch and drinks and hurried over to the jam. I think the event was sponsored by L.A. Blues Society and it was great. Some good friends were performing and I even got up and joined a friend on harmonies for a rousing rendition of "It Takes a Whole Lotta Liquor to Like Her".

The sweet lady in the photo is loving the tunes and playing the tamborine all afternoon. It is her birthday and was celebrating it with the crowd. I think it's wonderful how she is so lost in the moment and the music that her eyes are closed...just soaking it in.
