One of Henry's Guests
I seem to be falling behind with the blipping. I've only got to Sunday and have made hardly any comments since Saturday.
So what happened on Sunday?
Oh, yes...the day was centred around Henry's third birthday party, and the need to keep out of the sun.
The party was held at Abigails house, and was the dreaded occasion where hordes lots of little toddlers have to be kept amused for most of the afternoon.
I seem to remember that when our kids were little, the parents used to turn up, dump their precious offspring and high-tail out of it in a cloud of dust shouting vague promises about trying to get back in 3 hours when the party was over. It was then up to the two of us to try and keep the little horrors from killing each other, dying of boredom or dying of starvation.
Nowadays, things are a little different; not only do the toddlers turn up, but so do their parents, and the rest of their family. This party for 10 kids ended up with 50 people or so being there. Abigail even hired a bouncy castle.
As far as I could tell, there was at least one traditional party game - pass the parcel. There were 10 players and 40 onlookers, all dedicated to making sure that the game was scrupulously fair. It started off with it being fixed - i.e. the music stopping so that everyone in the circle got to tear off some wrapping and get the now obligatory little prize. Then there is the bit where the final prize is random. Horror of horrors, it finished up with Henry!
As it happened, another little boy had his mitts on part of it, and it was declared his.
Henry was very good about it and wandered off to try and make inroads into the mountain of yet-to-be-opend presents that had been building up since the party started.
The above is a pic of one Henry's guests. Henry has no idea who she is.
